Kuwait seeks to attract foreign direct investment and established the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) to license foreign investment entities and grant incentives subject to conditions.
What KDIPA offers
- Licensing investment entities with higher levels of foreign ownership than usual.
- Benefits and incentives for qualifying projects.
- Procedural support for investors.
Eligibility
Not every activity qualifies. There is a list of excluded activities, and applications are assessed on the project's contribution to the national economy — such as technology transfer, employment of Kuwaitis and training.
Alternatives
Where investment through KDIPA is not suitable, other options include a company with a local partner, a branch, or working through a commercial agent. Each has its own advantages and limits.
How we help
We help you assess the options, prepare applications, negotiate partnership agreements and follow the process through to commencement.
